Sea Moss Benefits for Women

Sea Moss Benefits for Women

Sea moss also commonly called Irish Sea Moss is one of those health supplements that is constantly doing the rounds on social media and whilst there’s a lot of truth in the claims around it’s benefits, some are of course just hearsay. So we’re going to cover off what the science shows, not just the gossip.

Key Points

  • Supports digestion through prebiotic effects.

  • 💧 Improves skin & hair via anti-inflammatory compounds.

  • ♀️ Possibly supports libido through thyroid balance.

  • ❤️ Helps heart health by providing soluble fiber.

  • 🧪 Carrageenan active at ~500mg/day - of the extract specifically not just Sea Moss itself.

  • 🚫 Pregnancy caution: Too much iodine can be bad

How Sea Moss Works

Aside from it’s vitamin and mineral content sea moss includes a polysaccharide called Carrageenan, which has been shown to have gut and anti-inflammatory benefits in studies at doses of 500 mg/day in humans. These amounts may be achievable through highly concentrated supplements (most don’t do this) or generous servings of sea moss gel.

Of course, we standardize our Sea Moss blend, and also standardize for the relevant extracts from spirulina, bladderwrack and burdock root all in one blend (and that’s the last time we plug our product.

The Benefits Of Sea Moss For Women

Thyroid and Hormonal Balance: Now it’s not so much sea moss itself in this case, it’s the iodine inside it. Because it is essential for Thyroid function, and women are more likely to have issue with this. There are even some claims that sea moss is a natural libido booster, this would only really be as a result of improved thyroid health. This could also be said for some of it’s effects in regards to the metabolism, but not all.

Supports Gut Health: Sea Moss is a prebiotic, meaning it feeds the healthy bacteria in your gut, helping maintain a healthy microbiome and reduce bloating along with other issues. Unlike many fibrous foods, sea moss resists breakdown in the upper digestive tract, delivering more benefits to your colon.

Good for Skin & Hair: Sea moss contains antioxidants and anti inflammatory compounds, which can help with wound healing and skin irritation (when applied topically it’s even more effective according to the studies).

May Support Heart & Metabolic Health: Carrageenan has been shown in some small studies to help manage cholesterol and blood sugar. Of course, this requires having a large enough dose.

And if you’re looking for a fully standardized Sea Moss (AKA one that actually works) then check out our Sea Moss Blend.
